Flying OUR Olympic Champion

Honoured to have on board Olympic Champion Eluid Kipchoge – the greatest marathon runner of all time!
A professional athlete with immense achievements, yet he dedicates time to encourage and support people, communities and causes. Yesterday he joined the Wild Women Ultra Marathon team who ran 5 marathons in 5 days across Laikipia in support of ‘For Rangers’ who raise money and awareness for the welfare of rangers. These are the people on the ground who protect our wildlife, often at the cost of their own lives. We can not say how much we appreciate their efforts to keep our elephants and rhino safe.

Thank you Eluid for believing in the work of the Wildlife Rangers! Thank you for flying with us!

“Caravan of Love”

One of our Cessna Caravans taking off from Nanyuki for a day of charter flights! It can carry up to 11 passengers, and is a single engine aircraft with a reputation as the safest general aviation aircraft ever built!

We have a fleet of 4 Caravans and 1 Cessna 182 which is the ‘workhorse’ of the fleet. It flys just two passengers at any one time – all over Kenya.

All our flights are booked on private basis, and the aircraft is therefore exclusively yours! Get in touch if you would like a quote.

Sky Islands of Northern Kenya

A vast contrast from the red and yellow deserts that dominate northern Kenya, are a range of ancient crystalline Precambrian rocks, mostly granites which are extremely durable, and for this reason, the steep ranges some reaching over 2,500m, are left standing despite the relentless cycles of erosion influencing the region for centuries. On the summit are pristine evergreen montane forests, that thrive from the dependable morning mist.

We land here on the side of Mount Nyiro occasionally, to escape the heat of the deserts, and to take in the views – which never seize to take ones breath away. The Samburu nomadic pastoralist also scale the steep sides with their livestock to find grazing and a refuge during the toughest of dry seasons.

On this particular day, we had with us the Joe Muriithi – a Nanyuki-Based professional Mountaineer and adventure photographer – documenting our helicopter flight.

Koros Camp, northern Kenya

Koros Camp is beautiful camp in South Horr Valley, Marsabit Country, just an hour and half from the southern shores of Lake Turkana. Tropic Air is delighted to have partnered with Lattitude Adventures and taken over the management of the property as of 1st July 2021.

We would like to thank the Samburu Community who have granted us access to the land on which the camp is located, and whom will continue to benefit from tourism.

Koros offers a perfect base from which to explore this wild corner of northern Kenya, and bookings can be made through: info@koroscamp.com

We are extremely grateful to Nick and Angie Taylor for having the vision and commitment to develop this special camp back in 2013.
