How is this spot for a picnic breakfast!
Touching down on ‘Naitodo’ – a rock kopje in the heart of Samburu, for a picnic breakfast. Naitodo means ‘needle’ in Samburu, which is a perfect way to describe this landmark – a sacred site where many traditional ceremonies and feasts take place, always involving the sacrifice, or gift, in the form of a cow or goat to the Creator, asking for rain so that the grass will grow to feed their livestock.
This is the very spot where David Attenborough stood in the opening scene of the BBC Africa series. Its remote and scenically spectacular and one of the most important spaces for wildlife.
