Rescue of a tiny Baby Baboon – Congo

Feb 10, 2017

This is the first time we have flown a baby baboon, and being able to help with this particular rescue was a great pleasure. ‘Missa’ as she has been named by the Centre de Rehabilitation des Primates de Lwiro in the Congo where she now lives, was found by Garamba National Park rangers in the possession of a bushmeat poacher. It is assumed that her mother was killed for bushmeat, and that she would have had the same fate.

This traumatic start to Missa’s life is now on a better path, with the care and safety of the team at Lwiro, and a bonding to ‘Grace’ – an adult female baboon who was rescued from a hotel where she was living alone in a tiny cage. A touching story and a happy solution for them both!
