Loisaba Hot Air Balloon Experience

Situated 70 kms north of Mount Kenya, on the edge of the Laikipia plateau, is Loisaba Wilderness - a 60,000 acre private wildlife conservancy and working cattle ranch. Located here is the new Tropic Air / Loisaba hot air balloon. Our balloon has a deluxe basket and carries 6 passengers in total comfort.

Balloons are the earliest form of flight, and our balloon, registered as "5Y-POP," is the first and only balloon operating in Northern Kenya.

Each and every trip is unforgettable... and typically we take off into the sky at day-break, float over the stunning and dramatic landscape where herds of elephant, zebra and giraffe can be spotted, and we are met on landing with the ultimate champagne breakfast – hence the name 5Y-POP! It is a completely overwhelming experience and definitely doesn't get better than this!

Our pilot, Mike McGrath from Chicago, has over 3,500 balloon flying hours in 17 countries, including 2 round-the-world attempts, and he has over 15 years experience in Kenya.
