Kenya Helicopters | Eurocopter AS 350 B3

Tropic Air, by choice, operates the Eurocopter AS 350 B3.  Its ability to fly in hot and dusty conditions, and its proven performance within high altitude environments makes this the ultimate helicopter for Eastern Africa.

Suited to a wide range of tasks means that we can adapt from carrying tourists to carrying stretchers. Globally, this helicopter is the preferred option for aerial filming work, and cameras are specifically designed to fit onto its nose.  Tropic Air has extensive experience in flying cameras for documentary and feature films - more information here.

The Eurocopter B3’s seat five passengers in extreme comfort.  They have air conditioning and an intercom system for music and easy communication during journeys.  We also have life rafts and floats for long water transects, baskets for geo survey tasks, and a sling capacity of 1,000kgs.

In early 2012, our pilots benefitted from an introductory course on 'long lining', which aside from being an incredibly useful expertise for Tropic Air’s survey and rescue work, long lining is an excellent way to enhance pilot skills.

Tropic Air operates three AS 350 B3 helicopters – and their registration numbers are: 5Y BWV, 5Y BXE and 5Y BYG.  We have close ties with the Eurocopter Centers in South Africa and with the manufacturers in France.
