One of the most exciting and original ways to experience the Kenyan landscape and scenery, is on board our Classic WACO bi-plane - bringing back the golden age of early aviation in the spirit of Beryl Markham and Denys Finch Hatton. 

Considered one of the best classic sport bi-planes ever made, the Waco Classic Aircraft Corporation received F.A.A certification some years ago to build brand new Wacos on the original pre-World War Two design. Today, the Waco is among the most beautiful and safest aircraft flying. So exclusive is the Waco that only one aircraft can be manufactured in the USA every 5 months. Tropic Air purchased serial numbers 117 & 118, registered as 5Y HIP & 5Y HOP.

The Waco has an open cockpit, carrying two passengers side-by-side with the pilot flying from the rear. With beautifully finished leather interiors, the best music intercom and 3-way camera system, flying in this aircraft is a once-in-a-life-time experience.

The classic bi-planes are based at Lewa Wildlife Conservancy and the scenic flights are conducted by Will Craig, an old friend of Tropic’s.
